When and how did you get started with RCF: My friend, Heather Heynen, kept telling me how much I would love crossfit. (She was right, I love it!) I started in 2013 and came to RCF in fall of 2015.
Occupation: High School Science Teacher
Age: 45
Favorite WOD: Cindy and Murph
Favorite Movie: Don’t have one, but I love TV series. Walking Dead, How to Get Away with Murder, Game of Thrones and more!
Favorite Food: Cookies! Especially Eileen’s sugar cookies.
Goals (personal, professional, and CrossFit):
Personal: To slow down and really listen to my son. Try to worry less and find happiness in the moment. (It sounds great but I really suck at it.)
Professional: To inspire kids to love science and to see why biology is important in their lives.
CrossFit: I have so many! That’s what I love about crossfit, there is always room for improvement. I would love to get efficient muscle ups and be able to handstand walk.
What time do you usually attend and what’s the best part about working out with that group: I workout with the 4:30 group and I just love being with adults after being with teenagers all day! There are some really fun and funny people during that time.
What’s in your most frequently used emoji tab? Thumbs up and Smiley emoji
What’s the first CD you ever bought: Nirvana, “Nevermind”
What’s the last thing you searched for on Google? Clothing
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why? I don’t have a NEW color, but I would say red because it’s my favorite color and I am kind of intense. 🙂
What is something we don’t know about you? My husband and I are both teachers, so we have summers off. We go to a different country every other year and we stay there for most of the summer. Last year it was Germany. This summer we are travelling from Florida to New Hampshire, hitting up biking, climbing and national parks along the way. Our son, Fisher, goes everywhere with us.
Advice to new members or someone looking to start CrossFit: Introduce yourself, try everything and don’t give up. The awesome part of crossfit is you will keep improving, just keep coming! (It took me 3 years to get double unders!)
